Rawlings World Series Gold Glove Special magazine advertising

This a Rawlings Roberto Clemente Brooks Robinson World Series Gold Glove Special magazine advertising. This Rawlings Fastback baseball glove was sold in stores shortly after The 1971 World Series which featured The Gold Glover Roberto Clemente, and the Pittsburgh Pirates beating fellow Gold Glove winner Brooks Robinson, and the Baltimore Orioles four games to three. Unfortunately the celebration in Pittsburgh would soon turn to mourning as a short fourteen months later Roberto Clemente was killed in a plane crash.

This WSS Rawlings Fastback Glove issued in 1971 came in two models, as pictured below in the magazine ad left World Series Special, and a picture of the Gold Glove award on the right. The advertisement for this red white, and blue WWS Fastback Glove also notes that Brooks Robinson won the MVP award in the 1970 World Series, and Roberto Clemente in the 1971 WS. Between them they won 23 Gold Glove awards. Advertising like this is a great way to date your vintage memorabilia.
