The Challenge the
Yankees Board game made by Hasbro was sold in 1964, and 1965 only. Each
of the two years the game came with 50 Player
Preference Cards that measure
4"x 5 3/8"; 25 Yankees cards, and 25 All-Star
cards. The
only way to distinguish the cards between the two years is to
compare the stats.
The
first set, printed in 1964, uses 1963 stats; the second,
printed in 1965, uses stats for 1964. Four of the 100 cards are identical for the two
years: Yankees Hector Lopez and Tom Metcalf, and All Stars Carl
Yastrzemski and Johnny Podres. Every other card differs in some
small way, either by player fact, ERA or Batting Average. *Not all of the 1965 sets contain the NYY Rollie Sheldon card. Rollie was traded to Kansas City on May 3rd, 1965 and his card was withdrawn from the set, making it more scarce than the others.
The
checklist below has been arranged in alphabetical order by player,
followed by the Batting Average, or ERA of the player that appears
on the card for that year. Click the following link for a
