NOTES:

This is a vintage late 1930's Joe Gordon  "Buckle Back" Baseball Glove. This is a great example of a 1930's style baseball glove showing one of the many experiments in glove design for its time. Pre war gloves were mostly split finger gloves that had no lacing between the fingers. This patented 1936 glove is an experimental predecessor to the post war laced fingered gloves. It has a small leather strip sewn into the index finger, fed through the middle finger, then sewn into the forth finger (ring finger) connecting three of the four fingers. (see below) It is generally accepted that fielders gloves with unlaced fingers "Split Finger" are considered prewar (WWII) models or styles while gloves with the fingers laced are considered postwar models, or styles.
