This
is a vintage late 1950's Mickey Mantle Holiday Inn
Lounge Table. In
1956, Harold D. Youngman approached Mickey Mantle about
leasing and operating a Holiday Inn hotel in Joplin,
Missouri. It was agreed that Mickey would be named the
president of the Mickey Mantle Motel Corp., the Holiday
Inn, and Youngman would be the vice president. The hotel
opened for business on January 10, 1957.
There were
only a handful of these Mickey Mantle tables in the
lounge. Each table was circular in shape, with a black and
white baseball design that featured a large Mickey Mantle
autograph. Pictured below is a Holiday Inn postcard with
Mickey Mantle posing with one of the lounge table's.
