This is a ticket stub from the first game played at Shibe
Park on April 12, 1909, between the American League Base
Ball Club, Philadelphia Athletics
and the Boston Red Sox. Shibe Park became baseball's first
steel-and-concrete stadium. This rain check was for the
bleachers, and if the game would have been rained out it
could have been used for any game during the regular
season.
Condition is
important. The slightest flaws could bring the price down
significantly. Common flaws include; rips, creases,
stains, fading and staple holes. It was a common practice
for fans to staple a ticket stub to the game scorecard for
safe keeping. Ticket stubs that are not ripped cleanly
will also sell for less. A "Minty" ticket could sell for
more.
