Leaf
is well known for its production of its modern day sets.
Leaf is also well known for several sets produced right after
World War II. In 1948 and 1949, they produced crude sets of
baseball, football, and boxing stars. The Leaf Candy Company
in Illinois was purchased by Huhtamaki along with Donruss,
leading to Donruss and Leaf merging together. In
an effort to establish a Canadian baseball card market, the Donruss Company in
conjunction with its new parent Leaf Company issued the Leaf set
to the Canadian market starting in 1985. |
