This
is a vintage 1957 - 1962 Mickey Mantle Holiday Inn
Lounge Carpet. In
1956, Harold D. Youngman approached Mickey Mantle about
leasing and operating a Holiday Inn hotel in Joplin,
Missouri. It was agreed that Mickey would be named the
president of the Mickey Mantle Motel Corp., the Holiday
Inn, and Youngman would be the vice president. The hotel
opened for business on January 10, 1957.
The carpet
featured Graphic designs of Mickey Mantle's Number 7
uniform jersey below his birth year, 1931, Yankee caps,
gloves, bats and shoes. The section of carpet
pictured measures 13"x"17.
