1952-1969 Spalding Official National League
Baseball
|
|
NOTES: |
The
1952 - 1957 Spalding Official National League
baseball feature the signature stamp of the new National
League President Warren Giles (replacing Ford Frick)The
"PRES." stamp that follows the signature is now uppercase
block print, replacing the script "Pres."
stamp. "THE CUSHONNED CORK CENTER" above the Spalding logo
on the south panel is moved closer to the Spalding logo
circle leaving less of a space.
The 1958
-1962 Spalding Official National League
baseballs have the same design as the '52-'57 baseballs
but there is a slight change with the "i" in the word
"National" (the "i" is Straight and does not have a tail
to the right at the bottom) and a slight change to the "L"
in "League has it touching the "e". (see example A
below) The Warren Giles signature on the 1958-1962 is
different and the placement of the signature has the
highest peak of the "W" in Warren starting after the "t"
in "National" (Starts before the "t" on the 1952-1957
balls)
The 1963-1969 baseballs are
reverted back to the 1952-1957 sweetspot but have a
thicker less sharp look than the 1952-1957 balls. (See
example B below) This could be difficult
to see and the only sure way to know is by the boxes.
