This is a
vintage 1977 New York Yankees Facsimile Autograph Souvenir Baseball.
Facsimile autographed baseballs like this were
normally used for promotions, and or sold at Major
League stadiums as souvenirs. This baseball was a Yankee
Stadium souvenir. The "Bleeding" or
"shadow" of the ink is
caused by a low grade porous cover on the baseball
causing the ink to seep into the cover. This apparently
is a common problem with souvenir baseballs from
this era as shown with a 1975 Cincinnati Reds
baseball shows with
the same problem but more evident, and can be viewed here.
Signatures
on this Baseball include Roy White, Thurman
Munson, Ron Guidry, Don Gullett, Graig Nettles,
Lou Pinella, coach Elston Howard. Manager Billy Martin,
Bucky Dent, and Dave Kingman who played one year for the
Yankees (1977), and helped date this ball.
Facsimile
signatures are often mistaken as authentic. For more
