In 2002, Post issued a free Major
League Baseball Bobblehead Doll inside each box of specially
marked boxes of Post Cereal which
included; Fruity Pebbles, Waffle Crisp,
Honey Comb, Golden Crisp, Raisin Brand,
Oreo O's. and Alpha Bits cereals. A collectors
display stand was made available by
mail, when you sent in $2.99 (includes S&H) and
2 post cereal proof-of-purchase. An
additional two National league and
American league All-Star bobble heads
were included with the stand.
The 2002 collection featured ten 3 inch tall mini bobbleheads depicting
All-Star players in logo cap and
uniform representing their respective
team. The following year in 2003, Post
issued another ten bobbleheads,
featuring five new players, and a
return of five, this time in road uniforms.
(see checklists below) The baseball
caps feature a tab on the back with a
hole, possibly made to hang as an
ornament, but there is no mention of it
in any ad.
The bobbleheads were packaged in cellophane, but in 2002, Post placed the
dolls above the cereal pouch instead of
burying them inside the bag - an open
invitation to anyone desperate enough
to steal the collectibles. The result
was that some customers bought the
cereal and took it home, only to
discover the bobblehead doll was
mystriously missing.
