Authorized by Major League baseball in
1993, Willabee & Ward issued the "125
Years of Official Baseball Patches." The
complete set of 40 patches are an exact
replica worn on uniforms back in the
day. The first patch that was worn by
Harry Wright and his 1869-70 Cincinnati
Red Stockings, was available for $4.95.
The rest, at a rate of two per month
were $12.95 plus $1.00 shipping and
handling. After paying for the third
patch, collectors received a free album
binder.
Each uniform patch was secured in
plastic, then mounted to a 9" x
12" information panel, inserted in a plastic
binder sleeve. Below the uniform patch
is a "Patch Fact" information box with
a short summary. The information panel
gives a detailed history that continues
on the other side. The front bottom of
the panel illustrates where the patch
was worn, home and away, jersey front,
or sleeve. The back panel has a 1995
copyright.
