For the third time in four years from
1952-1955, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and
the New York Yankees faced off in the
World Series. Of the Dodgers seven
World Series setbacks, the last five
had come at the hands of the Yankees.
However, in 1955, the "Bums from
Brooklyn" won a record Ten games in a
Row to start the season, and then Da'
Bums went on to beat the Yankees in the
World Series. In celebration of the
Brooklyn Dodgers record setting ten
game winning streak to start the 1955
season, this souvenir bar coaster was
issued.
The Delft Aluminum & glass bar Coasters
are made by Charmo Manufacturing Co.
Matawan, NJ which is engraved on the
bottom. The graphics below the glass
features a Brooklyn Dodgers baseball
cap in the center, and reads "BROOKLYN
DODGERS" above, and "TEN-IN-A-ROW"
below in Dodger blue print. Across the
bottom reads in red print
"RECORD-SMASHING GET-AWAY STREAK -
1955."
Although breaking the
hearts of Brooklynites by moving the
team to Los Angeles two years later.
Dodger enthusiasts still pine for their
team, and have made Brooklyn Dodgers
memorabilia some of the most sought
after in the hobby.
