This 1968
Magnetic Game Lunch Kit was made
by the King-Seeley Thermos Co., under
license for the MLBPA - Major League
Baseball Players Association. The front
of the lunch box features an artistic
illustration of a player with Boston
Red Sox uniform colors, sliding into
third base, a third baseman with Yankee
pinstripe uniform colors, and an umpire
gesturing a safe call. The top left has
a modified MLBPA-MLB logo with the word
"OFFICIAL" above it. To the right reads
"MAGNETIC GAME LUNCH KIT" the bottom
has a 1968 Copyright for the MLBPA.
The sides depict a Orioles like batter on one side, and a likeness of a
Cincinnati pitcher on the other. The
bottom panel has a second baseman with
a Yankee like uniform along with the
interlocking NY, and a Boston Red sox
like uniformed player sliding into
second. The top with the lunch box
handle and lid fastener has a generic
pitcher with Philadelphia Phillies
colors. The Yellow and green infield
featured on the back of the lunch box
is the "Playing Field" for the game.
The official MLBPA logo is located to
the top left with a scoreboard to the
right.
The bottom left features the
instructions: "The Rules of Major League baseball
apply. Each team is allowed three outs
to their half of each inning. The team
scoring the highest number of runs at
the end of nine innings is the winner.
In the event of a tie, play continues
into extra innings. Players choose
teams. Visiting team will spin first.
Home Team spins last. Players must spin
again when the spinner stops on a line.
Players take turns using magnetic
pieced as base runners."
The magnetic game pieces are very rare
and includes a spinner, and 4 red
Magnetic 1/4" discs,, that came in a
heat sealed plastic bag. Inside the
lunch box houses the Thermos, capped
off with a cup. It pictures the same
third base sliding scene featured on
the front of the lunch box.
