In 1954 the Pioneer Vending Service
company, located in Brooklyn N.Y.,
offered "Press-on Baseball Mascot
Emblems" for $19.00 per 1,000.
Twenty-four major league teams in
assorted colors in two designs were
offered. Team nickname on the sweet
spot of a baseball design, and team
nickname with a right handed batter
behind. The encapsulated emblems were
inserted into 5¢ vending machines.
The patches were made for the National, American, and International
Leagues. Simple directions for applying
the emblems were enclosed in the
capsule. By simply pressing the 2"
diameter emblem with a hot iron, the
patch could be place on a sleeve,
shirt, cap, etc. The slip of paper
reads "Mascot Emblems, Hot Iron Press
On, Wear your team, Emblem, For Shirt -
Jacket, etc,. Get all 24 different
emblems." An illustration of a boy
above a Giants emblem is pictured to
the right.
