This Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris
Jig-saw puzzle is just another one of
the many items that hit the market
in 1962, playing off the popularity of
the M&M boys magical season of 1961.
The black & white photo puzzle pictures
Mantle and Maris by the batting cage in
Yankee Stadium and features facsimile
autographs of the two Bronx Bombers.
As
the mail order advertisement pictured
below reads "Loads of fun from start to
finish is this big exclusive
personalized 8 x 10 glossy photo
jig-saw puzzle! Authentically
autographed by Roger Maris and Mickey
Mantle. When assembled it is a
beautiful picture that can be
permanently framed for your collection.

postage paid 2 for $1.75. (I'll take

Located in the Bronx, Pan American
Photo was a Photocopy, Photo finishing
service that opperated a mail order
business. For $2.00 you could also buy
100 Glossy reproductions, gummed and
perforated stamps, of any photo you send
them. (advertised in a 1962 Popular
Science magazine which also has an
article on "How to use a Jigsaw")
These Jig-Saw puzzles have surfaced in a handful of auctions over the past
10 years but none with the original box
it came in. I have seen a box with a
puzzle being offered for sale. A common
box with no picture or printing, that
you would expect to receive from a mail
order business back in the day.
