This
gold-tone adjustable ring was sold as a
souvenir at the National baseball Hall
Of Fame and Museum, in Cooperstown, New
York. The face
measures 5/8" and reads "Baseball Hall
of Fame - Cooperstown NY" along the
perimeter, with lettering in red inlay
enamel. The ring is loosely dated to
the 1960s.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame was established in 1936, with the first
class of inductees being elected that
year, although the museum officially
opened on June 12, 1939 to commemorate
baseball's centennial. The prestigious
inaugural event was held at Doubleday
field to honor the 26 Hall of Fame
inductees including the 5 original 1936
members: Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Walter
Johnson, Christy Mathewson, and Honus
Wagner.
