These celluloid, and stuffed cloth baseball dolls were made available at
the stadium souvenir stands, inside and
outside the ballpark, during the
1950's-1960's. The 8" Dolls dressed in
a baseball uniform were made in Japan,
and were sold with a team pin attached
with a ribbon. The Dolls came with a
baseball bat attached to the right
hand, and another with a ball and
glove. The uniform sleeves and stirrups
varied in color depending on the team.
Some dolls featured the team
name printed across the chest.
The head, hands, shoes, bat, or
glove and ball, were made of celluloid
plastic. The dolls are often found with
cracked or dented heads, or the bat,
shoes and hands broken off. Made in
Japan is embossed on the back of the
neck.
There were other variations, and sizes
of these Dolls, made by
other manufactures, that were sold from the
1940's through the 1970's.
