NOTES:
 
   The Youth's Companion was published by Perry Mason Company from 1827-1929. known as "The Companion—For All the Family," the children's magazine existed for over one hundred years until it merged with The American Boy in 1929. Featuring vintage baseball equipment, this A.G. Spalding & Bros. ad was featured in the April 20, 1899 issue of the Youth Companion, on the back cover (IV) Another in the April 27, issue.

 The outer and inside covers are identified with roman numerals, Front cover - I, II, and back cover III, IV. The April 20, 1899 issue has 12 pages 197-208. (1-12). The pages are numbereds consecutively from from the first January 5, issue, 1-12, to the last December 29, issue, page 692.

 "Spaldings' League Ball and Spaldings Boys' League are the official base balls for the season of '99 and should be used in all games." Illustrated in this ad: The Official League Ball used exclusively by the National League for $1.25.; Boys League League Ball for junior clubs official Price 75 cents.

 "Spalding's Specials for Companion readers" - Spalding's Junior Mitt No. CB 25 cts; Boys' Infielders' Gloves No. 17, 25 cents; Spalding's Boys' Catchers Mask No. B, $1.00; Spalding's Inflated Body Protector for Boys No. 2, $3.50; and Amateur Uniforms.
