The Official 1952 World Series Film,
was presented by the American and
National Leagues of Professional
Baseball Clubs. Directed and narrated
by Lew Fonseca, the 32 minute film of
World Series highlights, was sponsored
by A.G Spalding & Bros. Inc. makers of
"Twins of the Majors" (Official
American League - National League
Baseballs) and Hillerich & Bradsby
Company, makers of Louisville Sluggers.
Woe the days before VCRs, DVDs, and cable television. Yes kids before
there was an ESPN if you wanted to see
the World Series or see it again, You
had to go to a movie theater or a local
organization that "borrowed" the film.
Most people didn't have televisions in
1952. If you didn't go to the game, and
didn't have a TV this was the only way
to see it. It was also common for
groups of people to gather in front of
an appliance store to watch it through
a window.
This Spalding Baseball advertising which also promoted the film, appeared
in a number of magazines including "The
Athletic Journal." The ad pictures a
great shot of Yankee Stadium taken from
the upper deck, and the "Twins of the
Majors" - a Warren Giles Official
National League baseball, and a William
Harridge official American League
Baseball. You can watch the film

Majors" on YouTube below
