NOTES: |
This is
a 1952 Spalding Ad featuring the 1952 World
Series film, a Warren Giles Official
National League baseball, and a William Harridge
official American League Baseball. Woe the days
before VCRs, DVDs, and cable television. Yes kids before
there was an ESPN if you wanted to see the World Series
or see it again, You had to go to a movie theater or a
local organization that "borrowed" the film.
Back in 1952 lots of people didn't have televisions Yet.
If you didn't go to the game, and didn't have a TV this
was the only way to see it. It was also common for
groups of people to gather in front of an appliance
store to watch it through a window. Ads like this are a great way of dating your Vintage
baseball memorabilia. This advertising appeared in
"The Athletic Journal" magazine. below
pictured from left to right a great shot of Yankee
Stadium taken from the upper deck, about the film
produced, and nariated by Lew Fonseca, and the
Official Baseballs.
