Mickey Mantle's Holiday Inn
officially
opened on October 23, 1957, in Joplin,
Missouri by Mickey Mantle and
business partner Harold Youngman. Gift shop and complementary Items
from Mickey Mantle's Holiday Inn which
Include; ashtrays, soap, photo
postcards, napkins, and matchbooks are
in great demand in today's collectors
market. There were seven different Mickey
Mantle matchbook covers produced. Two
were used during wedding receptions,
banquets and other special events.
Diamond Match Division-Gold on White,
and
Universal Match Corp-Gold on
Dark Brown. These two matchbooks are
very rare, but in less demand than the
matchbooks that picture Mickey Mantle.
There were five variations of the picture matchbook.

The Diamond Match Division brown
outside cover, with Mickey Mantle
pictured with a white background, and
"Mickey Mantle's" in red printed above.
The back has a black & white site
illustration. The inside green
Ambassador map shows I-44 "to the
Oklahoma Turnpike."
2- The Universal Match
Corp. black outside cover, with Mickey
Mantle pictured with a Yellow
Background, and "Mickey Mantle's" in
red printed over the picture. The back
features the cocktail lounge. The
inside black Aristocrat map shows I-266
"to the Will Rogers Turnpike." These
two do not have the registered
trademark ® on the cover and might be
the first two matchbooks printed.
The following 3 have the registered trademark
® added after the Holiday inn Hotel
sign.
3&4- The Universal
Match Corp. brown outside cover, with
Mickey Mantle pictured with a white
Background, and "Mickey Mantle's" in
red printed over the picture. The back
features a yellow and green colored
site illustration. 3-
has a black Aristocrat map that shows
an I-166/I-66 by pass to "to the Will
Rogers Turnpike." 4-
has a green Aristocrat map that shows
