Ozzie Smith's Restaurant & Sports Bar
opened at 645 West Point Plaza, in St.
Louis MO, in December of 1988. The
walls were adorned with dozens of
photos of Ozzie; St. Louis Blues and
Cardinal jerseys, game used bats, and a
one-of-a-kind mural showing him
batting, stealing, and a number of
other depictions of Ozzie in action.
As stated on the inside of the
matchbook; Gift Shops & Sports
Memorabilia, 4 Satellites, 2 Big
Screens, and 22 TV's. There's no
seat without a view.
The front and back of the matchbook features the "Ozzie's Restaurant &
Sports Bar" logo, Phone number "(314)
434-1000 St. Louis." Below, on front of
the "reverse striker" is the address
"645 West Port Plaza St. Louis. MO
63146" - "Reverse Striker" - referring
to a cover which has the striker on the
back panel rather than the top flap.
The design change came in 1973, when
all matchbooks were federally mandated
to have the strikers put on the back
panel, for safety. Thus, the industry
changed from "Front-Strikers" to
"Reverse-Strikers."
