NOTES:

    J. deBeer and Son, Inc. was founded in 1889 by Jacob deBeer, a German Dutch immigrant tanner that began making his own baseballs in a converted barn in Johnstown, N.Y. The Anchor brand was the J. deBeer trademark logo. The company moved from Johnstown, N.Y. to Albany in 1916 and the name was changed to J. deBeer & son. At that point the company started to use the Double Header logo, but the Anchor brand was still used for many years later.

There's not much catalog information available to accurately date Anchor Brand baseballs, but the No. 50 can be loosely dated to the late 1930's. This Red & Green stitch Professional League Anchor Brand baseball No. 50 was originally made available for just 8 box tops of Quaker Puffed wheat. In a 1936 ad, 10 box tops of Muffets, or 2 box tops and .25 cents. Without catalog information it cannot be said for sure if the No. 50 premium baseball was exclusive to the Quaker Oats "FREE BASEBALL GIFTS" Babe Ruth offer, but there was No. 80 Professional League Anchor Brand baseball, that was more likely produced for the retail market. There was also a De Beer No. 50 Double Header Logo baseball sold in 1938.

The earliest Anchor Brand baseball logos, have "J de Beer" inside the anchor. Later Anchor Brand baseballs feature "J. deBeer & Son," sometime after the move to Albany. The Racol symbol, Registered Trademark ®, first introduced in 1947, was added to the Anchor Brand logo around 1955. The green thread  on these baseballs are commonly found faded.
