NOTES:

The Frost, Derby & Co., originally manufactured scythe snaths and was founded in 1857 by Albert Derby. In 1882, Franklin P. Ball, joined the firm which was then renamed Derby & Ball. In 1920, the Edwards & Edwards Co. merged with Derby & Ball forming Derby, Ball & Edwards Corp. With the demand for Scythes dropping out of the market, the company began the manufacturing of baseball bats under Derby, Ball Edwards Corp. In 1933 the company Relocated their factory in Waterbury, to Barre, VT. and made bats under the name Derby Bat Corp.. The bats were only made for a few more years when the Derby bat Corporation went out of business in 1938.

Ethan Allen, an outfielder, played 13 years in the majors from 1926 to 1938. He played for six different teams, the Reds, Giants, Cubs, Browns, Phillies and Cardinals. Ethan Allen designed the popular Cadaco All Star Baseball game, which first hit the market in 1941. The game was revised in 1966, 1968 and again in 1988. It was the best selling baseball board game of all time.

The center Brand oval on the bat is centered by the words "DERBY MADE" The outside border reads "DERBY * BALL * EDWARDS * CORP." at the top and at the bottom "WATERBURY * VT" The Barrel end reads "ETHAN-ALLEN."
