The Honus Wagner Company located in
downtown Pittsburgh, was founded in
1918 by Honus wagner, in association
with local businessmen. E.L. Braunstein
was president of the firm. At one time,
the store supplied uniforms for the
Pittsburgh Pirates as well as semi-pro
and high school teams in the region.
Co-owners Harriet, Harray and Shapiro,
purchased the store from Mr. Wagner in
1928. The shop was originally
located on Liberty Avenue but
moved to Forbes Avenue in 1952. After
93 years the Honus Wagner Company
sporting goods shop, closed the
business in 2011.
The outer rim of the Trademark oval center brand reads Honus Wagner Co. at
the top, and Pittsburgh, PA. at the
bottom. A "Honus Wagner" facsimile
autograph is featured between the seams
of a centered ball. A circle at the top
of the ball is a silhouette of Wagner
sitting on the bench. To the left reads
"For All Sports" and "Athletics" on the
right.
The 1940s catalog below lists the No. 200 Wagner "Personal" Series
