The Dubow Glove company was established
in 1912 by Jacob Dubow. The company
manufactured work gloves and expanded
the company in 1918 to include sporting
goods. The company name was changed to
J.A. Dubow Mfg. The sporting goods
division produced quality baseball
gloves in the 1920s that drew the
endorsements of baseball stars from
that era, that included Kiki Cuyler,
Johnny Mostil and a Guy Bush glove that
featured a sliding strap connecting
three fingers. Dubow also manufactured
gloves under the Marathon brand sold in
Montgomery Wards mail order catalogs.
Dubow stopped making gloves by 1960.
The
Dubow baseball bats were produced by
companies such as Hanna Batrite, and
Louisville Slugger. The J.A. Dubow
baseball bat vertical center brand
features the trademark shield With a
baseball inside and "Dubow" between the
seams. The top reads J. A. Dubow" with
the model number below. Block letter
player models include the No. D9W Leader Jackie Robinson.
The horizontal center brand Reads: "Dubow"
inside a baseball, with "J.A. Dubow" at
the top of the shield, and
"Sporting Goods" at the bottom. Block
Letter last name endorsement models
include No. 15 Ruth Style.
