In 1900, Orin E. Peters, then
president of the Peters Cartridge
Company, founded The Peters Arms and
Sporting Goods Company, in Cincinnati,
Ohio. Because of
heath issues, Peters closed down his
short lived sporting goods company in
1908, and was forced to resign from the
Peters Cartridge Company, in 1910. The A.G. Spalding & Bros. announce
the removal of their East 5th Street
athletic store to 119 East 5th Street,
which was occupied by Peters Arms and
Sporting Goods for eight years.
Spalding's opened the store, December
of 1909.
The Peters Arms and Sporting Goods Co. was a wholesale dealer that carried
a full line of fire arms, ammunition,
fishing tackle, athletic and general
sporting goods, tennis rackets,
badminton equipment, bicycles,
baseballs and bats. It
is not known what company produced the Peters Cincinnati Soaker, or the
year it was made. A Peters Cincinnati,
O, League model was also produced.
