These Iron-on Transfers were
produced by the Quaker company of Bridgewater
Industrial Park Cornwells Heights
Pennsylvania. The company made a series
of Iron-on transfers in the 1970s, that
included; Rock Stars, CB Radio,
Monsters, Animals, Little Urchans, and
Super Series. In 1976 Quaker issued a
set of 14 Major League players.
The 4.5 inch by 6 inch color transfers have a player portrait on a
baseball background; the name of the
player above, team nickname below and
has the
MLBPA logo and Quaker copyright
line below. Licensed by the Major
League Baseball Players Association
only, not MLB, the pictures have the
team logos removed from the caps.
Based on personal accounts from people that received them back in 1976,
these transfers were cataloged as Mr. Softee
Iron-ons, but they were not exclusive
to the ice cream chain. Some were also
purchased in vending machines. in 1978
Royal Crown Cola issue, Quaker iron-ons with
the same basic format, but with "Me and
my RC" below the team city. The
transfers were made in team
sets of 5 players strips.
