NOTES:
 
   In 1955 Brown & Bigelow issued the "Grantland Rice's Roll Call Of Champions" adverting ink blotters. Grantland Rice was an early 20th-century American sportswriter whose writing was published in newspapers around the country and broadcast on the radio. The 4 by 9 inch, sports themed ink blotters with the header "Grantland Rice's Roll Call Of Champions" featured artwork on the left with a quotation below written by Grantland Rice. A space to the right was reserved for an advertiser. The bottom reads "Created by Brown & Bigelow St. Paul, Minn., U.S.A."

 The 1955 copyrighted ink blotters subjects included: Man O'War; Jack Dempsey; Knute Rockne; Ben Hogan; Bobby Jones; Charley Paddock; Bronko Nagurski; and baseball themed blotters - Babe Ruth; Lou Gehrig; and John McGraw-Christy Mathewson.

 The John McGraw-Christy Mathewson, ink blotter caption Reads: "Two of my all-time greats in baseball - John McGraw, my pick to manage my all-time team and Christy Mathewson, my selection to hurl for baseball's greatest collection of players." -Grantland Rice

 The Babe Ruth blotter caption reads: "The '32 series between the Yankees and Cubs brought much excitement but none to compare with the dramatic moment when Babe Ruth 'Called' that home run. It's on it's way and so is the Babe." -Grantland Rice

 The Lou Gehrig blotter caption reads: "More than 65,000 fans jammed Yankee Stadium July 4, 1939 to honor Lou Gehrig who benched himself after playing 2,130 consecutive games. Two years later, Lou died and I lost an irreplaceable." - Grantland Rice.
