NOTES:

The Stall & Dean No.'s 6915, 6914, electric wielded steel bar frame, Goggle eye professional catchers masks were manufactured from about 1920 to 1930. The full length face pads, are attached to the frame with laced leather pad flaps extending from the pads. In 1931 the model No. 6910 was introduced with an added sun shade. By 1947 the goggle eye clear-vision design was replace with the wide-vision construction. Around 1957 manufactures started to use snaps to attach the face pads to the frame. Both the goggle-eye and wide-vision masks came with a sun shade riveted to the top if the frame.

The frame on these "Professional" masks remained the same throughout the 1920s, to 1955. Full wrap-around face pads were first used iaround 1914, but did not become common until the 1920s. Before this time a chin support, a simple piece of leather, was used. Design changes throughout the 1920s are slight and the variety of designs increases. You will also notice more use of lacing to secure the face pads.

The Stall & Dean Manufacturing Co. in Brockton, Mass. was founded by W.T. Stall and C.H. Dean in 1898. Their product of sporting goods included; Base Ball Suits, Gloves, Mitts, Balls and Bats. The Stall and Dean Company is one of the oldest sporting goods manufacturers in America.
