NOTES:

Founded in 1941, Hartland Plastics was known for making Plastic western toys, such as Cowboys, Indians and Horses. From 1958-1963 Hartland Plastics produced 18 statues of star Major League baseball players, a "minor Leaguer" (4" tall batter) and a Little Leaguer/Batboy. In 1958 the Wisconsin based company introduced the baseball line of statues. Three home state players were produced, Hank Aaron, Warren Spahn, and Eddie Mathews. Between 1960 and, 1962 an additional 15 players were added to the series. The "Bat Boy" was originally issued as the Little Leaguer but it was changed because of licensing rights.

After issuing the "Champion Little Leaguer" statue in 1963, a trademark infringement complaint by the Little League association forced a large majority to be held back leaving only a small number of the "Little Leaguer" blister packs in the market. Many of the header cards were then cut to remove "Little Leaguer" from the top.

The statues were made available at souvenir stands at the ballpark, mail order, and sold in retail stores such as Woolworths for $1.98. In 1963 Hartland was purchased by Revlon, and stopped making the figures to make cosmetic perfume cases and containers. In 1988, a 25th anniversary series was issued. All the Little Leaguer/Batboy figures featured a © Hartland Plastics Inc. on the back, but the reproduction features a circled (25th). A 5" "Little Leaguer" cake topper with a yellow bat & globe, was also produced, and licensed to another company. This figure was made of a waxy plastic.
