NOTES:

The examples shown here are from game 3 of the 1974 World Series between the visiting club, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the home team Oakland Athletics. The "On Road-Official Batting" card used by Los Angeles for this game has a different printing format than the "1974 Official Batting Order" card used by Oakland. The Los Angeles "Visiting Managers copy" and the Oakland "Official Scorer's Copy" were both submitted to and used by the home plate umpire Doug Harvey. Little attention was paid to who received which copy.

Batting Order cards are submitted to the umpire by the manager or coach of each team before the game when they go over the ground rules. The umpire keeps one copy of the lineup card of each team, and gives the second copy to the opposing manager. This pair of lineup cards came from the Don Denkinger Collection, and must have received them from home plate umpire Doug Harvey after the game.

The value for batting order lineup cards will vary based on age, the lineup for that game, the signature of the manager on the original copy, team, stadium, and accomplishments of noted players for that game. As with all collectibles condition is important but the crease caused by folding is normal. In general the value of a lineup card from a common regular season game from the 1970's era could start in the $30.-$60. price range. The significance of the game, noted players in the lineup or personal milestones accomplished will raise the value accordingly.

Game 3 of the 1974 World Series was played on Tuesday, October 15, at Oakland Coliseum. The Oakland Athletics 3, Los Angeles Dodgers 2. (Oakland won the Series 4 games to 1) Catfish Hunter (OAK) 4th career World Series win of 5. Bill Buckner (LAD) 1st career home run of 1, Willie Crawford (LAD) 1st career home run of 1. Oakland Manager Al Dark, Los Angeles Manager Walter Alston. Home plate Umpire - Doug Harvey.
