NOTES:
From 1912 to 1914 these 10” x 12”
natural hide shape novelty leathers
were made available through a special
mail in offer which expired June 1,
1914. One gift slip was
included with a pack of Turkish
Trophies and Helmar Cigarettes. The
4" x 5" gift-slips were good for one cents in
cash, or returned for presents that were listed on
the back. For a return of 35 gift Slips
you received one leather, or
3 leathers for 90 gift-slips. The presents included
Hamilton King Girls, National Flags,
Actresses, Actors, College Mascots,
College Shields with Seals, Generals or
Indians and baseball players mounted on
6” x 8” cards, 7” x 9” silks, or 10” x
12” leathers. The 25 baseball player
designs were made available on Satin
(S81 silks) or leather.
The design created by renowned artist
Hamilton King, for both the Silks and
Leathers, feature sketches of "25
celebrated baseball players." Twenty of
the 25 drawings are the same used for
the T3 Turkey Red series issued in
1911. The players last name and team
are below the illustration on the front
of the blank back leathers that were
made to be used as "wonderful novelties
for home decoration."
