NOTES:

The Westclox Big Ben alarm clock was first sold in 1909, the Baby Ben in 1910, and both had evolved through many case and movement changes through the years. Westclox and its predecessor companies the Western Clock Co., Western Clock Mfg. Co. and United Clock Co. of LaSalle-Peru Illinois was established in 1885, and "Waking up America" until 2001. "Bingo style" & "Keno style," Keywound alarm clocks were issued by Westclox through the 1970's, and into the 1980's. A series of about 8 baseball player themed Westclox alarm clocks were turned into 'Fantasy Pieces' and hit the market sometime in the mid 1980's to the 1990s.

The players pictured on the dials of the Alarm clocks include: Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Pete Rose, Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, Fred Lynn, and Reggie Jackson. Fantasy Wrist and pocket watches were also produced.

The Keno style 6 alarm clocks, were made in the 1970s but not shown in catalogs. Keno models are shown in later catalogs, circa 1981 and on. The first Bingo style (1) was a leg-model bell-back alarm clock similar to the Big Ben. The style 2 Bingo was an inexpensive alarm clock, and was made until 1957. A plastic cased Bingo style 3 was made from 1962 - 1979.

Indications that these clocks are fantasy pieces: There is no catalogs that feature the Baseball Player themed clocks. Major League baseball is extremely strict with licensed products. Starting in 1969, the official MLB logo had to be placed on all licensed products. This is why even with items licensed by the MLBPA -players association, if MLB doesn't get their cut, the team emblems are airbrushed out. All the team emblems are present on these clocks. The "Westclox" brand name does not appear on the dial on the fantasy clocks, as with all other clock manufactured by the Westclox company.
