NOTES:

"A History Of Baseball" placemats were produced in 1964 by the Jay-Dee Co. which was located in Brooklyn New York. Jay-Dee Co. was a manufacturer of place mats, straws, and other restaurant related products. This placemat was produced for Linton's Friendly restaurant. Linton's had 26 locations at one time in the Philadelphia area. Unable to compete with fast-food chains, and reduced to 13 restaurants Linton's filed for bankruptcy in 1978.

The blue and red print, "A History Of Baseball" placemat depicts a 19th century, and a modern day ballplayer, with a stadium background. It lists Baseballs World Championships from 1903 to 1963. Below, lists Hall Of Fame inductees, from 1936 to 1964; "In cooperation with National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. Cooperstown, New York." To the left Reads:

"BASEBALL HALL OF FAME - There are 101 of baseballs all-time best in the shrine at Cooperstown, N.Y. Some obtain immortality by a vote of the baseball writers' Association of America, others were tapped by a special committee on veterans. No player is eligible for admission until he has been retired for a minimum of five years. He must then require at least 75% of the annual vote of the baseball writers. The old-timers' committee passes judgment on those who have been retired for 20 years. Here is a list of those who have been honored to date by being inducted in the shrine of baseball"

The placemat has a "© Jay Dee Products Co. Inc. Bklyn. N.Y." in the lower left corner. Another baseball themed placemat produced by Jay Dee Products is the Baseball "Quikee Quiz" placemat (pictured below) credited to "One for the Book" published by The Sporting News.
