NOTES:

These two Dairymen's "Safe Protected Milk" bottle caps have a rare baseball theme. The green cap above depicts A boy safely sliding home, while the catcher is waiting for the ball. "SAFE!" The yellow bottle cap below "A Hit! Anytime, Dairymen's Protected Milk" depicts a smiling boy in a batters stance.

Produced to meet the vital needs of children, the "Dairymen's Protected Milk" ad-campaign started around 1930. Commonly called a cap or disk it was sealed against a ledge, molded inside the mouth or throat of the bottle. Extra steps were taken to assure the cleanliness and purity of the milk by adding a hooded, and wielded seal. The wielded seal was hailed as milks greatest protection since pasteurization. It was impossible for dirt or dust to lodge on the inner cap or over the pouring lip.

"Dairymen's Association" operating in Hawaii was formed in 1897 from the combination of seven dairy businesses. Beatrice Foods purchased the company in 1953, and in 1959 the company's name was changed to "Meadow Gold Dairies"
