Gillette
marketed the Cricket disposable lighter
in 1972, then a year later, introduced the
"Wild Cricket Table lighter" featuring
different decorative designs, added
every year. The light source was a
Cricket disposable lighter - so you
never had to add fluid or flint. After
it ran out of fluid, you removed it,
and just slipped in a new Cricket
lighter.
In a 1975, Gillette All-Star Special promotion, a Free Wild Cricket
All-Star Commemorative table
lighter was offered with any purchase of a Gillette Trac II
5's, Techmatic Adjustable Band 10's, or
Track II Razor, plus coupon and .50¢
for postage and handling per lighter.
You had a choice of American or
National League, MLB designs.
Twelve teams are featured on each lighter. The National League teams:
Giants, Braves, Cardinals, Astros,
Phillies, Mets, Pirates, Expos, Cubs,
Dodgers, Padres and Reds. The American
League teams: Orioles, Royals, Indians,
Red Sox, Brewers, Athletics, White Sox,
Angels, Rangers, Tigers, Twins, and
Yankees
