Hooters is an American restaurant chain started up in 1983. The Hooters
name has a double meaning; a slang term
for women's breasts, and the Owl logo,
referring to a bird known for its
"hooting" calls. The waiting staff at
Hooters restaurants are primarily young
women, usually referred to simply as
"Hooters Girls," whose revealing
outfits and sex appeal are played up
and are a primary component of the
company's image. Waitresses, called
Hooters Girls, wear a uniform of Orange
running shorts and a white cut off or
tank-top T-shirt. Pantyhose, and bras
are a required part of the uniform.
Hooters considers the Hooters Girl to
have the image of an "all-American
cheerleader, surfer girl next door."
This Hooters laminated placemat is in
the shape of a Baseball Glove and
features the Hooters All-Star Specials
Menu. The center has a Hooters logo
inside a baseball, and below reads:
"Baseball, Hit A Home Run with one of
Our Great All-Star Specials" The
perimeter showcases the menu with
dishes under the headings or
description using baseball jargon: Kids
Corn Dog - Swing for the fences with
this minor league favorite; King Crab
Legs - The "Bambino" of seafood;
Grilled Mahi Sandwich - Probably caught
by a Mariner; Triple Play Burger;
Buffalo Chicken Salad - Served on a
field of greens; Squeeze Play; Hall Of
Fame Dog; and Extra Innings - Deserts.
