Endorsed by Mickey Mantle, Roger
Maris and Willie Mays, these youth size
"All Star" Baseball watches were
first manufactured in 1964 by Bradley Time
Division. They were sold in department
stores and mail order catalogs up until
about 1967. Also included with the
watch was a Baseball Tips booklet, and
as advertised in both the 1966 JCPenny,
and Sears catalogs
it also came with a baseball. It is
unclear if the ball was offered every
year. The free
Baseball Tips booklet, by National
Baseball Schools Inc. seems to be as
rare or scarcer than the case the watch
came in.
The rare mint green plastic case
that measures 5 1/2" x 2" x 2" came
inside an even more scarce mint green
box that featured caricature drawings
of Mantle, Mays and Maris with
facsimile autographs. Inside the case
where the watch is displayed had a Red
insert in the top lid of
the case. The back of the insert had a
guarantee for the watch and the face
featured illustrated head
shots of Mantle, Maris, and Mays, each
placed in an outfield position over a
green background baseball field. The
center reads "All Star, Wrist Watch" to
the left reads "Autographed dial" to
the right. There is a pull tab to get
to the grantee, and "Precision Swiss
Movement - Electronically Timed -
Anti-magnetic" written across the top.
The bottom has the Manufacture credit
line “1964 Bradley Time Division,”
The watch was also made available
in a red cardboard box that has the
facsimile signatures below each players
caricature. the lid is pink and has the
Bradley name on it.
As advertised the dial of the Boys sports watch has "autograph
reproductions of the stars" The face of
the watch features each of the three player’s signature on a
silver and red stitched baseball with
the word's "All Star" in the center.
The green outer border
features the hours and minutes in
intervals of 5, with
the 6th hour sandwiched between "Swiss Made"
There is a variation that does not have
the numbered minutes. The face was also
made with a black border and a baseball
with yellow stitching, red stitching
and a dial that also features Sandy
Koufax.
