For decades, placemats were used by
restaurants to keep their patrons
entertained, educated, and amused while
they were waiting for their meals to be
served. They were meant to be used once
and discarded, making most a rare
commodity. These McDonald's paper
placemat food tray liners were used to
advertise the McDonald's Home Run Club,
which offered Free Pirate Tickets for
your non-profit organization.
The placemat reads: "Let Us Take You Out To The Ballgame... McDonald's
Home Run Club! Here's your chance to
team up with Home Run Club. We've
bought 50 season tickets to
twenty-three Pirate weekend home games.
And, we'd like to treat your non-profit
group to an exciting evening of
hardball with the Bucs.
All you have to do is send a written request on your organizations
letterhead. Be sure to include the
number of tickets you'll need and the
weekend game dates you prefer. Then,
send your request to: McDonald's Home
Run Club, 600 Stadium Circle,
Pittsburgh, PA 15212" On the left of
the placemat is a list of "McDonald's
Home Run Game Dates"
