From 1965 to the early 1970s,
Mickey Mantle
served as the official spokesman for Fedtro, an electronic products
manufacturer specializing in audio
equipment. Fedtro, which specialized in
devices such as megaphones, house
alarms, car alarms, intercom systems
and speakers, etc., issued a number of
products with Mickey’s face and
testimonials. The Mickey Mantle
endorsed 2-Channel Wireless
Intercoms were first sold in 1966. As
advertised in a 1966 dealers trade
catalog the "Executive Deluxe"
was packaged "Doubly Magnificent." The
outside "...Elegantly Gift Boxed to
please the most discriminating taste"
Inside "...Dramatically Card Mounted
for traffic stopping sales"
The mounting card as with the box cover, shows the likeness of Mickey
Mantle, and has a punch-out hole at the
top so the dealer could hang it for
display. The actual size of the large
display card that folds out from under
the intercoms is "1 1/2 Feet High and
over a Foot Wide!" The back of the card
has suggested uses for the portable 2
way communication set. The top od the
card reads: Mickey Mantle says Fedtro..."Proven
sound around the world" ... the proven
of Champions!
The Box for the model INT-2C2W reads "Proven sound around the world,
Transistorized Fedtro Wireless
Intercom, 2-Station Deluxe, Just
Plug-in...and Talk, Executive Model,
Exclusive! 2-Channel Selectivity
Permits, Private Conversation between,
Rooms of your choice, Mickey Mantle
says Fedtro..."the proven of
Champions." Like the back of the
mounting card the back of the box has
suggested uses.
