Mickey Mantle Golf Tournament Trophy

Pictured is a 1976 Red Steagall Celebrity Golf Tournament Team Winner Trophy presented to Mickey Mantle's partner in the tournament Wayne Hammond. The Red Steagall Celebrity Golf Tournament was held at the River Hills Country Club, in Kerrville, Texas on June 30, and July 1, 1976. A fund raiser for the Kerrville Music Foundation. Wayne Hammond was a bass player for country music singer, songwriter, and pioneer Ernest Tubb.

After the tournament Wayne was presented with this "Team Winner" trophy along with a Mickey Mantle signed 8 x 10 photo, personally inscribed to his golf tournament partner "To Wayne, Sure enjoyed the golf tourney, nice goin' your Pard. Mickey Mantle" After his retirement Mickey Mantle was often involved in fund raising golf tournaments and once said “The only sure rule in golf is he who has the fastest cart never has to play the bad lie.”
