The "World Series Pitch" paper
placemat was produced by Royal Paper
Products Inc., in Coatesville, PA.
Placemats such as these were used by
restaurants to keep their patrons
entertained, educated, and amused while
they were waiting for their meals to be
served. They were meant to be used once
and discarded.
Royal was an industry pioneer in printing informational and quiz paper
placemats available at restaurants and
hotels the world over. In the early
1950s, Royal printed a placemat listing
the presidents of the Untitled States -
the first of its kind.
This olive green paper placemat depicts a pitcher in his follow-through,
on the right upper corner. Below the
headline "World Series Pitch" lists
sixteen, Outstanding World Series
