NOTES:

From 1956 to 1959 the New York Yankees held Newark Youth Day at Yankee Stadium. The first, August 11, 1956, some 2,800 youngsters from New Jersey city traveled to Yankee Stadium via a motorcade of 28 buses, to watch a game as guests of Yankee President Dan Topping.

Youth Day was inaugurated in 1956 following the Yankee team trip to Newark commemorating the 10th anniversary of a radio and television sponsorship by P. Ballantine and Sons Newark brewery. On June 12, 1956 Newark celebrated "Yankee day" with the American League champions parading through town in open convertibles.

This coaster Commemorates the day as residents celebrated with with four former members of an old Yankee farm club, the Newark Bears. Tommy Byrne, Jerry Coleman, Yogi Berra, and Joe Collins.

The white glass framed in brass reads; "Yankees Day In Newark - June Twelfth 1956" along the rim, top and bottom. The center features a baseball diamond that reads "Honoring the occasion of our 10 Years together." Between third and second base is the Yankee top hat logo, and reads, "Yankees." Between home plate and first base Has the Ballantine three ring logo and reads. "Ballantine."
