a newspaper comic strip campaign; when
you sent in a top from one 12 ounce,
yellow-and blue Grape-Nuts package,
with your name and address, to
Grape-Nuts, Battle Creek, Mich., you
received a
new membership pin, certificate and
illustrated
catalog of "49 nifty free prizes" (the
1935 catalog had 37 "Swell prizes")
Prizes included Sports equipment such
as a baseball glove for 20 Package
tops, or a football for 21 package-tops.
Less expensive prizes; Dizzy Dean "Winners"
ring for 3 package-tops; Dizzy Dean
Lucky Rabbits Foot for 2 package-tops,
or an Autographed Portrait of Dizzy
Dean taken by the celebrated
portrait-photographer, Bachrach
for 1 package-top. The wide boarder 8"x
10" blank-back photo features a Dizzy
Dean facsimile
signature with an inscription that
reads: "Win With Your Pal" At the
bottom right, and reads: "Portrait By Bachrach"
in white, just before the boarder.
