Original poster from the movie "Safe
At Home," a 1962 Columbia Pictures
release starring; Mickey Mantle, Roger
Maris, William Frawley, Patricia Barry,
and Don Collier. The movie also feature
cameos by Yankees Mgr. Ralph Houk,
Whitey Ford and others. Mickey Mantle's
young son David plays one of the Little
Leaguers who winds up meeting the
baseball legends. (David Mantle's movie
credits also include the voice over for Mickey Mantle in
the 2014 animated movie "Henry & Me")
This 27 inch by 41 inch movie poster would have been displayed in the
lobby of the movie theater. The front
of the poster depicts Mickey Mantle and
Roger Maris in back to back batting
stances, with actor Don Collier, "...
the luckiest kid in the world"
separating the "Greatest Guy's in
Baseball." Below, separated by a red
"SAFE at HOME" pennant are the credits.

The National Screen Service stamped the back of most posters from the
1940's through the mid 1970's. The back
of this poster features a NSS stamp
that reads; "SAFE AT HOME 1 SH" (One
Sheet). Nearly all one sheet movie
posters printed before 1985 measure a
full 27" x 41," and are always in a
vertical format. Most (not all) were
issued folded with one vertical and
three horizontal creases.
The National Screen Service (NSS) was a
company that controlled the
distribution of theatrical advertising
materials in the United States from
approximately 1940 through the 1980s.
it signed exclusive contracts with all
the major movie studios to produce and
distribute posters and other paper
advertising materials.
