The period from 1947 through the 1957
season was considered, the Golden Age of
New York baseball. Ten out of the 11
years featured a New York team in the
World Series. The Yankees won 7
championship titles, the Dodgers, and
Giants each had one. Seven of the ten
years, featured a "Subway Series" with
two New York teams, playing in the
World Series. 1957 marked the end of
the "Subway Series" era between the
three teams as the Dodgers, and Giants
moved to California the following
year.
The three New York teams often shared sponsored pocket schedules,
featuring local advertisers, beverage
companies and banks
such as the
Manufacturers Trust Company.
This 1957 "Go Subway"
Dodgers-Yankees-Giants pocket schedule
was issued by the New York City Transit
Authority. The pocket schedule gives
"How to Go Subway To" all three
ballparks, Ebbets Field, Yankee
Stadium, and the Polo Grounds, via the
BMT, IRT, IND, subway lines. The verso
features the Dodgers, Yankees and
Giants home game schedules, and an
April-September calendar. "Save Time &
Money - Subway is Safe Dependable,
Convenient"
