The 1970 McDonalds Instructional
Booklet, was part of a McDonald's
promotion, a "Run, Throw, Bunt, Hit"
program that teaches and test basic
baseball skills, to youngsters 8-13
years of age. The 20 page booklet
features Ron Santo, Rod Carew, Jim Kaat,
and Don Kessinger explaining the finer
points of baseball through the
booklet's instruction which is
accompanied with illustrations.
A pilot program, the instructional
booklet was given to kids that
registered to participate in the
contest, and distributed to youngsters
attending select games in Northern
Illinois, and Southern and Southeastern
Wisconsin, where player clinic were
held. The Twins' Jim Katt and Rod
Carew, and Brewer's Max Alvis and
Russel Snyder; Staged a run, throw,
bunt, hit program in Milwaukee, on May
17, 1970, for the youngsters in the
left-field bleachers before the game...
There were 2,000 kids and a paid crowed
of 9,145.
Youngsters that attended the clinic also received a 4.25" x 6.5" card
stock autograph (facsimile) picture, of
each player.
