Issued bi-monthly from July 26,
1949 to and through the 1950s, Harvey
Comics, "Babe Ruth Sports" featured
stories and art by Bob Powell and
others. The comics told stories about
famous sports figures of the past, and
a continuing comics biography of
baseball legend Babe Ruth. Baseball
themed cover features include; The Big
Baseball Issue, Yogi Berra, Bob Feller,
Joe DiMaggio, and Stan Musial.
Issue No. 9 released in October 1950, features Stan Musial on the cover.
Inside contents include a 4 page story,
"They Call Musial 'Stan, The Man.'" Two
other 4 page stories; "They Laughed
When Casey Stengel Was Made Manager of
the Yankee," and "Babe Becomes a
Slugging Star." There is also a Babe
Ruth Sports Quiz.
A baseball themed
"Eat Cracker Jacks" half page
advertisement is shared with a
Schwinn Bicycle ad at the top. The
comic book also has an Old Nick -
Bit-O-Honey candy bar, "Chain Of
Champions" Key Ring full page ad. The
Key chains offered were Joe DiMaggio,
Bob Feller, Ted Williams, Stan Musial,
Jackie Robinson, and Johnny Mise. The
key ring were available for .15¢, and
two Old Nick or Bit-O-Honey candy bars.
This ad also appears in 1949 comics.
