NOTES:

    A song written in 1910 by Harry Breen (Words) and Albert Von Tilzer (Music) "Back To The Bleachers For Mine" was a big hit on the vaudeville circuit. Two years earlier Albert Von Tilzer wrote "Take Me out to the Ball Game" which became the official anthem of baseball. The sheet music for "Back to The Bleachers For Mine" was published by The New York Music Co., Albert Von Tilzer Mgr., 1367-9 Broadway, NY.

 The cover illustration features baseball equipment; fielder's glove, Catchers mitt, catchers masks, and ring baseball bats. It was common for Tin Pan Alley to print various copies of the same sheet music featuring different photos of vaudeville singers. There were at least two covers, one picturing vaudeville and silent films star Violet MacMillan (pictured above) and the other picturing, Eunice Burnham & Charlotte Greenwood.

  "Back To The Bleachers For Mine" -1910
 By Harry Breen (Words) Albert Von Tilzer (Music)

  Now, Mammie McShane loved a good baseball game,
and each year she’d wait for them to start,
Her father and mother, her sister and brother
They knew all the players by heart;
She’d drop her crocheting to find out who’s playing,
When they went away in the Spring,
When Freddie said smilin’, let’s go to the Island,
She’d put on her bonnet and sings

Back, back, back to the bleachers for mine, for mine
Back, back, back where the rooters root all the time,
I want to sit where the crowd comes in,
I want to root for our team to win,
So it’s back, back, back to the bleachers for mine, mine, mine.

 Her sweetheart said, girlie, let’s get married early,
If you’ll be my bride in July,
I’ll take you to all games wherever there’s ball games,
But Mamie she just winked her eye;
She blushed and said, Freddie, whenever you’re ready,
I’d even get married in June,
If you will not shake me, but promise to take me,
When we go on our honeymoon:

Back, back, back to the bleachers for mine, for mine
Back, back, back where the rooters root all the time,
I want to sit where the crowd comes in,
I want to root for our team to win,
So it’s back, back, back to the bleachers for mine, mine, mine.
