From 1965 to the early 1970s, Mickey
Mantle served as the official spokesman
for Fedtro, an electronic products
manufacturer specializing in audio
equipment. Fedtro, which specialized in
devices such as megaphones, house
alarms, car alarms, intercom systems
and speakers, etc., issued a number of
products with Mickey’s face and
testimonials.
This Fedtro brochure was used as a sales pamphlet, given to potential
customers, to promote their line of
"Powerhouse Megaphones." The back
features a white blank space that was
used for the dealer to stamp company
information. The top of the box has the
Fedtro followed by "proven sound around
the world, Available at" The bottom
reads: "Prices and specifications
subject to change without notice." The
Pamphlet folds out for detailed product
information, and as Mickey Mantle; who
is pictured using a megaphone
announces, "Here's Your Fedtro
Powerhouse Megaphone specifications
Guide."
"You'll agree with Mickey Mantle" who is
pictured using
a MAR-180 Delux model, announcing; "The
Fedtro Marine Communications Center is
the finest instrument of its kind in
the world." Picturing 'The Mick' on
other side of the foldout "Mickey
Mantle says, FEDTRO POWERHOUSE
MEGAPHONES, ...In the Ball Park, ...or
on the High Seas, ...They'll hear you,
loud and clear!" The sales brochure
also pictures Mickey Mantle standing
next to a display and reads: "VISIT
THIS FEDTRO-MICKEY MANTLE DEMENSTRATION
CENTER AT YOUR NEAREST DEALER,
SELECT....TRY....AND BUY THE FEDTRO
MEGAPHONE DESIGNED TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS!"
